Hand Held Embroidery Frame

This beautiful embroidery frame was made for me by Nissie Vermeulen of Bettys Bay, South Africa. I used a hanky handed down to me by my Dutch Grand Mother, and using 48count silk gauze as waste thread I stitched my own design. The needle is a tiny piece cut off an acupuncture needle. The lace is delighfully fine and I was able to use a piece I had cut off to complete the edging.

Ladies Spectacle Case

This case has been stitched on 48 count silk gauze and is my own design, it will also be one of my submissions to the auction. I hope the complete a gents case as well so watch this space....

The Phoenix Shield

After completing the Horse and Lion shields I was in a very creative phase and created the Phoenix! He is also done on 32 count linen and I am submitting him to our annual auction being held in Somerset West on the 20th March, to view items for auction please visit http://www.miniatureauction.homestead.com from the 3rd March.

The Horse and Lions Shields

I was inspired to create the shields when a friend needed something in her Tudor Market Hall, the lion and horse designs have been adapted from a pattern I found in an old magazine but the shields are my own creation. I stitched them on 32 count linen fabric using DMC threads.

Florentine Footstools

These footstools have been stitched on 48 count silk gauze, and I have used DMC thread for the pink, green and blue stools and the purple one is done in YLI 100 silk thread. They are on wooden bases with small round feet.
These two footstools have been done in florentine stitch on 32 count linen fabric.
We are having a Convention in Betty's Bay from the 17 - 19th March and these four will be one of the workshops. For more info please view the following site http://miniatures-capetown.org

African Women

Here is the wall hanging with a 1/12th scale "riempie" bench made for me quite a while ago by a special man who has since passed away. The pile of books were made in a class given by Barbara Brear.

African Women Wall Hanging

I was commissioned to make this panel for a 1/20th scale house, it had to cover the wall from floor to ceiling. I decided to use 32 count linen as this would give a woolen effect as the original was a woven hanging. It measures 120mm x 80mm and has a total of 16224 stitches and took me +-26hours to embroider. As it is quite large for 1/20th scale it will fit perfectly in a 1/12th dolls' house.

Bedroom in 1/20th House

This is the bedroom in Henry's house which will house the wall hanging. It fits in beautifully and also covers the wall floor to ceiling.

Full Scale Bedroom Wall Hanging

This is the actual wall hanging which I copied for Henry Le Roux who is building a replica of his house in 1/20th scale. Note it covers the whole bedroom wall from floor to ceiling.

A Medieval Ship Panel - Design by Sandra Whitehead

I have embroidered this ship on a 32 count evenweave fabric with DMC threads. It took little over two weeks to embroider, working for about 3 hours a day. There are a total of 8514 stitches. It would look stunning in any Tudor setting or a gent's study. Sandra writes that this panel depicts a 15th Century design adapted from an earthenware bowl.
